Chiefs Acknowledge Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player the Athlete
The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations circulated in social media posts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver the athlete and had been in contact with the NFL.
The team omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and said they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the second round.
Police Reports Reportedly Not on File
No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Recent Legal Issues
Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.
Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first time in a ten-year span.
