Rob Edwards and O'Neil are two of the initial names in the frame to replace the former manager as manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Pereira was dismissed on the weekend after the squad's 10-match winless start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have historic associations to the team - are part of the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would pose a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town manager - who made more than 100 of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading contender for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys backing from the club directors as they begin the search of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is also appearing as a surprise candidate, although he would be a surprising choice considering he was sacked by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham United midfielder is currently unemployed which means the club would not be required to pay any buyout fee.
