Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The fighter was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Healing from Light Wounds
The sports star had remained in the hospital while recuperating from non-critical injuries, his management team confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the champion in the following the devastating accident.
